Browse Ontario by ZIP Code

City-limit and household questions sit outside what delivery data can answer. Confirm what the postal label means for the address before working code by code. The postal service verifies delivery, county systems resolve parcels, and city GIS confirms jurisdiction. The main residential code areas here are shaped by older north and central neighborhoods, airport and industrial corridors, and rapid southern growth. An Ontario ZIP code directory narrows a search, while the final detail still belongs to a parcel, court, library, or other custodian.

Ontario ZIP Code Directory by Area

The practical Ontario ZIP code directory starts with three core delivery areas and one routing question. The area descriptions below are broad. USPS assignment belongs to the individual address, and new construction can change how a street is routed. Use the table to choose a verification path, not to infer a city boundary or a household.

ZIPBroad Ontario coverageDelivery contextResearch note
91761South and east Ontario, airport and industrial areas, much of Ontario RanchOntario delivery ZIPVerify new-development addresses with USPS and GIS
91762West and central areas, including much of southwest OntarioOntario delivery ZIP; Downtown Ontario facility contextNot a city district; boundaries can feel nonintuitive
91764North, central, and east Ontario, including downtown and north-of-airport corridorsOntario delivery ZIPCommercial and airport-area addresses need jurisdiction checking
91758Ontario-associated routing labelVerify current assignment2017 Postal Bulletin treated it as routing for 91761 or 91764, not a residential neighborhood

Ontario Main is listed at 1555 E. Holt Boulevard in 91761, Downtown Ontario at 123 W. Holt Boulevard in 91762, and Guasti serves the eastern airport and industrial context. Those facilities help explain delivery routing, but the USPS address result controls the actual postal code.

Ontario 91758 Needs USPS Verification

Do not draw a residential neighborhood around 91758. The research identifies it as a legacy or routing treatment associated with 91761 and 91764. A ZIP directory that presents 91758 as a normal fourth Ontario neighborhood would turn a routing clue into a false map. Search the exact address in USPS before sending a parcel or resident question to a city, county, or postal custodian.

The Postal Service announced that Plaza Center at 1126 N. Mountain Avenue lost its lease, closed retail and PO Box operations on May 29, 2026, and shifted service to Ontario Main beginning June 1. That timely change shows why old address notes can become stale even when the street itself has not moved.

The USPS Ontario Plaza notice is the source for that service change.

The postal notice is a useful reminder that a ZIP directory needs a live verification link, especially for new development, PO boxes, or a relocated retail counter.

Verify an Ontario ZIP Code Address

USPS is the first check when the goal is delivery, not ownership. Enter the full street address and compare the returned city, state, ZIP, and ZIP+4 information with the county situs. A result that says Ontario does not prove the parcel lies inside Ontario's incorporated boundary. A postal label that differs from the expected city does not, by itself, disprove the physical location.

  1. Enter the complete address in the USPS ZIP Lookup, including the unit when one exists.
  2. Save the returned ZIP and ZIP+4, then compare the street and city label with the county property result.
  3. Use county GIS to confirm the parcel's jurisdiction and APN rather than treating the ZIP as a polygon.
  4. For resident research, move from the APN to the relevant property, deed, court, or library source.
  5. Use a street-level method only after the ZIP has narrowed the address, not as a substitute for USPS verification.

The USPS city and state ZIP lookup is the direct postal check for the Ontario ZIP code directory.

The USPS form belongs before a parcel search because delivery geography and assessment geography answer different questions.

Ontario ZIP Boundaries and City Jurisdiction

Ontario has several overlapping maps: postal delivery, incorporated city, county assessment, school service, planned-community or association, and parcel boundaries. A postal code serves mail routes. It is not a city-limit polygon. County GIS and the city permit or planning jurisdiction decide where an address falls for a local record request.

The mismatch matters most along the airport, industrial, and southern growth edges. A business address in an industrial ZIP is not a household clue. A new Ontario Ranch street can have a postal label, subdivision record, city permit, assessment parcel, and association layer that do not share the same boundary. Record each geography in its own column.

When the postal city and municipal result disagree, keep both in the notes and ask the custodian which jurisdiction controls the requested record. Never use the ZIP alone to claim that a person lives inside a city.

Ontario Ranch and the 91761 ZIP

Southern Ontario's growth gives 91761 a different record profile from older north and central areas. Ontario Ranch expanded across former agricultural and dairy land, so a newer address may first appear in a tract map, subdivision deed, modern permit, current assessment record, and GIS layer. Older blocks near the Model Colony grid are more likely to have city directories, census entries, Sanborn context, newspapers, and building surveys.

That does not make one ZIP more residential than another. It means the best search source changes with the age of the street. For a new address, confirm the ZIP and APN, then look for a permit or tract record. For an older address, add the local history shelf and historic maps. Use the Ontario by-street directory once the ZIP has narrowed the question to a named street.

Ontario ZIP, Situs, and Legal Geography

Postal-code searches become clearer when the address terms stay separate. A situs address locates the physical parcel. A mailing address tells the assessor where correspondence is sent. A legal description identifies tract, lot, block, or another land unit in a deed. An APN is the county assessment key. A postal code routes mail and does not replace any of those keys.

ZIP code
A USPS delivery area identifier that can serve addresses across a boundary.
ZIP+4
A more specific delivery code appended to a five-digit ZIP.
PO-box ZIP
A postal routing designation centered on box service rather than a residential block.
Unique ZIP
A code assigned to a single institution or high-volume address when USPS uses that structure.
Carrier route
A delivery route inside a postal operation, not a parcel or city district.

A ZIP directory should show which term was actually searched. The postal result may be correct while the parcel, city, school, or association assumption is wrong.

Ontario PIMS Has No Recorder ZIP Search

San Bernardino County PIMS documents property-address and APN searches, not a universal ZIP filter. The county recorder indexes parties and document metadata, not postal geography. A GIS application may expose a ZIP attribute if the selected layer includes one, but that behavior is app-dependent and should not be promised. A qualified voter-file request can specify geographic scope only under California's purpose and use rules.

PortalKnown keyWhat a ZIP researcher should do
PIMSAddress or APNVerify each returned situs and save the APN
GISAddress or APNCheck whether the active layer exposes ZIP, then verify the parcel
RecorderParty, document, date, titleDo not claim a ZIP-wide recorder search
Voter filePurpose and geographic scopeUse only an authorized request; My Voter Status is personal

The practical ZIP workflow is address by address. A ZIP narrows the starting set, USPS confirms delivery, GIS confirms place, PIMS supplies APN, and the responsible record custodian supplies the resident clue.

Do not describe the county recorder as ZIP-capable unless a live portal exposes that field. Its party and document index works from names, titles, dates, and document references. A ZIP directory can point a reader toward the right streets, but the street, APN, or person must still be searched through the system that owns it.

Ontario ZCTAs Are Not USPS ZIPs

Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas approximate postal service areas for statistical work. They are useful for population tables and broad geography, but they are not the same as USPS ZIP code boundaries and do not return a list of Ontario residents. A ZCTA can smooth a boundary that USPS handles through a route or delivery point.

Use Census geography when the question is a statistic. Use USPS when the question is a deliverable address. Use county GIS and PIMS when the question is a parcel or local jurisdiction. Mixing those maps produces a neat-looking but unreliable ZIP directory.

When a statistical table uses a ZCTA, keep that label in the notes instead of rewriting it as a USPS ZIP. If the question becomes an address, return to the postal lookup; if it becomes a person, move from the verified parcel or name to the proper custodian.

Ontario Privacy Can Remove a ZIP Clue

Some Ontario residents will not appear in an address result even when the ZIP and parcel are correct. Safe at Home provides a substitute mailing address for qualifying survivors and specified public participants. Voter records have restricted uses. Assessor owner fields can be suppressed, and recorded documents can hide protected identifiers. A privacy result is not evidence that a person is absent.

California's Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives qualifying consumers rights concerning covered business data. The state's DROP platform supports deletion requests to registered data brokers. Those rights do not automatically remove a county deed, court record, assessor parcel, or library volume. A request about an official record must go to that custodian.

The confidentiality program screen marks a limit that no ZIP lookup can overcome. Do not try to reverse a protected mailing address.

Privacy rights and postal routing are separate systems, but both can explain why a ZIP-based resident search stops without a name.
