Data You Send Directly
Information entered into a name, phone, or address search is sent to the third-party provider that powers the results. Our own servers do not keep a copy of the search text. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and the reply address or other details you choose to include.
Ordinary Technical Logs
Hosting providers generally record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, referrer information, and timestamps. These logs may be reviewed in aggregate to keep the service secure, measure page use, and troubleshoot errors. Cookies or related tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are enabled.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the pages, answer messages, monitor reliability, understand broad traffic patterns, and improve the reference. Ontario Residents Directory does not sell visitor lists or build a personal profile of an individual reader from the public-record topics they view.
Links to Other Services
The pages link to county and state portals, the Model Colony History Room, historical archives, courts, libraries, and third-party search tools. Once you leave these pages, the linked provider's privacy policy and terms govern what you submit. Sponsored result tools have their own data practices, which are outside our control.
Who May Process Logs
Hosting and security providers may process ordinary server logs for the functions above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic technical information described here. Information may also be disclosed when a valid legal process requires it. We do not disclose message contents for unrelated purposes.
Keeping the Service Safe
The pages are served over an encrypted connection where supported, and logs are retained only as long as the operational purpose requires. There are no visitor accounts, passwords, or user profiles on this reference site for an attacker to access. No security measure can promise absolute protection, so avoid sending unnecessary personal information through a contact message.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent personal information, a parent or guardian may use the Contact page to ask that it be removed from the mailbox or logs we control.
Your California Data Rights
Depending on eligibility and the type of business data involved, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, Civil Code section 1798.100 and following, may provide rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale or sharing of covered personal information. Because this reference keeps very little, a request usually means checking the contact mailbox and available server records, then removing what is within our control.
California's public-records law is different. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs requests to public custodians for identifiable existing records. It does not give this private reference control over a San Bernardino County deed, court file, voter record, assessor parcel, city file, or library volume. Requests to correct or remove an official record belong with that custodian. Use the Contact page for a privacy question about this service.
Policy Updates
Any revision will be posted on this page with its updated wording. Continued use after a change means that the revised policy applies to future use. The policy does not change the access rules of the county, city, state, federal, court, or library offices linked from the reference.
